The majority of businesses in Indonesia is an UMKM



PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) saw as many as 99 percent of businesses in Indonesia is the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM).

"Of the 59 million businesses, 58 million are UMKM so that UMKM are the main economic supporter of Indonesia," said Director of BRI, Asmawi Syam, Jakarta, Friday (02/19/2016).

BRI, said Asmawi, always support UMKM by giving credits with low interest, where KUR has been distributed in 2015 amounted to Rp 16.5 trillion, with the number of recipients as much as 900 thousand people.

UMKM to get credit from various sectors such as agriculture that covers planting, breeding, trading, then the craft sector and the tourism sector and creative industries.

"We hope that our UMKM are able to compete with other ASEAN countries," said Asmawi.

On the other hand, Asmawi see their BRI photo exhibition on the theme Building a Nation Through Economy UMKM have shown extraordinary energy of the UMKM in the attempt.

"There is a creativity made by sculptors, farmers, artisans, and fabric makers," said Asmawi.
